Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 3, 2026
This policy covers the website at https://buildcalc.page. It explains what information the site handles, which third parties set cookies, and what choices you have.
The site is operated by WayPoint, an independent software developer. WayPoint decides how the information described here is used and answers privacy requests at the address in section 9.
1. Calculator inputs stay in your browser
Measurements you type into a calculator are processed by JavaScript on your device. The site does not send them to a server, does not store them, and does not link them to you. Closing or reloading the page clears them. The site has no user accounts and no sign-in.
2. Information the site receives
When you load a page, your browser sends a normal web request. The server that hosts the site can record the technical details in that request:
- IP address
- Date and time of the request
- Page requested and referring page
- Browser type and version
These server logs are used to keep the site running, find errors, and block abuse. They are not used to build profiles of individual visitors.
If you email [email protected], the site receives your address and the message. It is used to answer you and is not added to a mailing list.
3. Advertising and cookies from Google
BuildCalc shows ads through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies on your device. They use them to serve and measure ads, limit how often an ad appears, and, where permitted, personalize ads based on your visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the Internet.
- You can turn off personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of some third-party vendors' personalized advertising at aboutads.info.
- Google explains how it uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
BuildCalc does not control the cookies that advertisers set and has no access to them. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking cookies does not stop the calculators from working.
4. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland
Google requires consent from visitors in these regions before cookies are used to personalize ads. Where a consent message from Google appears on the site, you can change or withdraw your choice later through that message. If you decline, Google can still show ads that are not personalized.
5. California and other US state privacy laws
BuildCalc does not sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies from Google can count as sharing or targeted advertising under some state laws. You can opt out through the Google and aboutads.info links in section 3. Where state law gives you rights to access, delete, or correct personal information, email the address in section 9. The site holds very little to retrieve: server logs and any emails you sent.
6. Children
The site is written for adults who plan and build construction projects. It is not directed to children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect their personal information.
7. Retention
Server logs are kept for as long as the hosting configuration retains them. Emails are kept while they are needed to respond or to keep a record of a correction. You can ask for an email thread to be deleted.
8. Links to other sites
Guides may link to code publishers, standards bodies, or manufacturers. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and this policy does not cover them.
9. Contact
For privacy questions or requests to WayPoint, the site operator, email [email protected]. See also the terms and disclaimer and the About page.
10. Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes. Material changes are also noted in the change log on the About page.
