Calculators, diagrams, and guides on BuildCalc give planning estimates and general reference information. They are not engineering, architectural, or legal advice.
Before you cut framing, pour concrete, or start structural work, confirm dimensions and requirements with the engineer of record, the manufacturer's instructions, and your local building department.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By using BuildCalc (https://buildcalc.page), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site. The site is operated by WayPoint, an independent software developer, and "BuildCalc" in these terms means the site and its operator.
2. What the site provides
BuildCalc offers free calculators and written guides for estimating quantities and checking layouts. The site may change, add, or remove a calculator or guide at any time. Using the site does not create a professional relationship between you and BuildCalc.
3. Your responsibility for results
- You are responsible for the measurements you enter and for checking the results.
- Results are estimates. Rounding, waste allowances, and rules of thumb can differ from the quantities a project needs. See the known limits on the About page.
- Code limits quoted on the site summarize the model code. The adopted edition and local amendments where you build take precedence.
- Structural elements, such as footings, rebar schedules, and stair framing, must follow the engineer's drawings or the approved plans.
4. Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to disrupt the site, probe it for weaknesses, or overload it with automated requests.
- Do not copy the site's pages in bulk or republish them as your own.
- Do not use the site for unlawful purposes.
5. Intellectual property
The written content, tables, diagrams, and page design on BuildCalc belong to the site and are protected by copyright. You may use the calculators freely for your own projects and may quote short passages with a link to the source page. Building codes and standards mentioned on the site belong to their publishers. The site cites them for reference and does not reproduce them.
6. Third-party content and advertising
The site shows advertising from Google AdSense and links to outside sites. BuildCalc does not control those sites or advertisers and does not endorse their products. See the privacy policy for how advertising cookies work.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The site and its content are provided as is and as available. BuildCalc makes no warranty that results are accurate, complete, or fit for a particular purpose, and no warranty that the site will run without errors or interruption.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, BuildCalc and WayPoint are not liable for any loss or damage that results from using the site or relying on its results. This includes material shortages, overordering, rework, failed inspections, project delays, and indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
9. Changes to these terms
The terms may change. The date at the top of this page shows the latest revision. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
